According to oral tradition, this house was transported from Grande-Digue by Simon Poirier, Pascal's father, who settled in Shediac around 1829. It is the oldest house still standing in the town today.
Recent restoration work features "windows to the past" that reveal original architectural details of the house. Various rooms are dedicated to Pascal Poirier, the first Acadian Senator, as well as to other prominent people from the area.
Shediac's history is presented in a permanent exhibition in the house's stone cellar. Please check with Town Hall at (506) 532-7000, Ext. 221, for opening hours. Charged admission.
